The Bed Bug Activity Survey is considered an industry benchmark in the number of bed bug (Cimex lectularius) infestations across the United States. A recent survey found bed bug infestations in the Central and Western United States regions were up in November when as many as 87% of bed bug extermination companies saw an increase in the number of infestations they were asked to treat.
This is surprising because winter months usually see a decrease in bed bug activity. Researchers are still trying to come up with theories as to why the Central region had a higher increase than other parts of the United States. Nevertheless, reports continue to come in suggesting bed bugs are becoming an ever-increasing problem in the United States and it doesn't seem like that will change soon.
