Model and blogger Eileen Kelly reports having an irritating experience with her Hollywood Airbnb rental after being bitten multiple times by bed bugs (Cimex lectularius). After throwing away her infested suitcase, she then went to a doctor and was prescribed a topical treatment for the bites. Reportedly, she had to spend $250 on the visit and medication. However, the most frustrating part for her was that the Airbnb rental remained available online for a week after she reported the incident.
We’ve previously reviewed the risks of coming into contact with bed bugs at restaurants, hospitals, hotels, and libraries. We now add Airbnb to the list. Remember any place where people frequently come and go is a risk for picking up a bed bug. Educate yourself about signs of bed bugs and request an inspection from a professional exterminator if you have any infestation concerns.
